Therapeutic Recreation Degree: Therapeutic Recreation is a process and a career. It is using recreation services and leisure experiences to help people with limitations make the most of their lives - physically, mentally and socially. It involves therapy, leisure education and recreation participation. Mercy College is the only College in Westchester, Putnam, and Orange Counties offering a B.S. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. This degree prepares students for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation (T.R.) Specialist, a certified leisure professional, and for the Civil Service Exam. It also offers students the opportunity to apply for Mercy College's certificate programs in Gerontology, Human Behavior, Pet assisted Therapy and Substance Abuse counseling.
